Remixing video and sound 2.0
My project is cyberpunk, however cyberpunk is such a broad topic with many themes rooted in the genre. I had to choose a topic and went with artificial intelligence since it’s one of the larger themes.
The remixed video is comprised of about twenty six different news and video clips found on youtube. The beginning of the video has real world news on the current state of artificial intelligence right now. Machines replacing jobs, software security issues, the potential threat of doomsday. The two more prominent voices of AI are Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Musk believing that AI will inevitably destroy us while Zuckerberg believes the potential gains outway the risk. The audio from the clips make up the background audio and I used movie clips as the visuals. I used video from Westworld, Terminator, Elysium etc.. to try and exaggerate the dystopian apocalyptic AI that we all know of today. the last third of the remix is composed of different cityscapes that give the feeling of a high tech world with Blade Runner music playing in the background.
The soundscape was made using sounds I recorded from the street in front of my house. It has a blend of natural noises like crickets, birds, blowing wind, followed by the mechanical cars that drive by. I had some family over and we recorded ourselves coughing. When the cars came closer and became more loud so to did the coughs become more apparent. Symbolizing the core of high tech, low life.
